Eron (correct spelling) Jordan had dozens of oxy and other pills, $6k in cash, a scale and an illegal gun in the car. He admitted all of it was his (dumb move if you’re going to get your attorney to challenge the legality of the stop). He had previously been convicted of pointing a gun at people, which seems violent

Agreed. Please go off with the other banished Deadspinners and start Deadspin 2.0, the unsuckening, or whatever you want to call it. I did not read Deadspin 1.0 for anodyne takes on sports.

You can’t testify without being asked questions. So if it’s the prosecution asking, it’s because they want it on the record. If it’s the defense asking and he lies, they can point to that lie later as evidence that he’s not credible. And the prosecution can use lying on the stand as an excuse to tear up a 5K.

This is the “testifying” part you alluded to. Who do you think is asking these questions?

One difference is that a Star Wars fan can’t show up on set and be there while they’re making a movie the way a fan can be in close proximity to a football game being “made.”

Not quite sure why anyone expects the human race is ever going to get better. We might as well expect salmon to leap out of the water and start breathing air.

He’s a shining light of hope for people under 5 feet.

No one gives a shit about your dog.

That poem says nothing about the sick, and in fact they turned away the sick at Ellis Island. And if you think 1920s America took in boatloads of immigrants for the immigrants’ well-being, you need to take a history lesson.

Exploding?

Not sure if she had kids or not, but if she did, she just recklessly orphaned them, and if she didn’t, she’s now a Darwin award winner. Posthumous congrats.

Is there a major gap in America between where a person starts his life and where he ends up? Maybe for Jay-Z; not for most Americans.

Certain readings of Christianity approach nihilism and essentially posit that human life relative to the vastness of the eternity is so meaningless that nothing people do on Earth merits getting too flustered over. Whether that’s a feature or a bug depends on your outlook.

I think drinking heavily is the traditional Irish response to most life events, including waking up in the morning.

Not to defend libertarians (but I guess I’m about to) but those places are anarchy, not a libertarian utopia.

Believing in reincarnation lets you assume that people who have shitty lots in life did something to deserve it in a previous life, e.g. the person panhandling probably molested children in a past life. Not the best belief system.

Lighten up, Francis.

Do you know many three year olds? They care a lot if they can see your face.

Yeah, but her point is borne out somewhat if a huge percentage of the immigration to the US is illegal. The government ended race-based immigration quotas in the 1960s* but it does retain the power to place limits on immigration generally.
