If Sean O’Neal were still around.
As Luke Cage would say, “Always backward, never forwards”
I started laughing uproariously before the characters did (literally - like, I have to emphasize this, because people constantly say “lol” or “lmao”, and they don’t mean it - in this case, I mean it). So I was incredibly relieved when the characters started laughing, to know that the show was in on the joke with me.
My take, to be lost amid the torrent of hotter takes is... I liked it.
But that will remove the only remaining reason people still talk about Avatar.
I am inclined to expect them to revisit what Varys was up to with his little bird, because they didn’t close that loop in the last episode, and it would be odd to plant that seed and not pay it off at all. Unless they were just trying to convey Dany’s paranoia. She was refusing to eat because she thought she was at…
The 90210 revival isn’t going well, perhaps because the cast is filled with divas, or perhaps because the producers are mad with power.
My initial reaction was “uhh... Will Smith singing? really?” - before the memory came flooding back to me that he had several hit singles in the late 90s (or as it was then known, the dawn of the Willenium).
I don’t object in principle to the fact that they opted to wrap this show up in fewer episodes, rather than more. This show isn’t a procedural; there’s a singular overarching narrative that needs to come to a conclusion. In the game of thrones, you win or you die. It’s dangerous to drag out the conclusion,…
This is a highlight credit for the vast majority of the actors on the show, and I’d imagine the main cast is very well paid at this point. There’s some danger of them getting typecast, after becoming so well for these roles and nothing else, but given that Kit Harrington’s has landed comedic roles, the threat can’t be…
I am interested in, and appreciative of, the artistic and technical aspects of making good film/TV, as I suspect most people on the AV Club are, but I’m certainly not a director.
I’m still reflecting on it, but the writing decisions that I’m having the hardest time accepting are the ones with Dany and the ones with Jaime.
I didn’t say it wasn’t plot driven. I said it was well acted. Almost well acted enough to make it believable, despite how sharp of a turn it is for a character who has been pretty well established as well-intentioned (and though cruel at times, reluctantly so).
There are a lot of people unimpressed with the way that the story has turned, but I absolutely enjoyed the execution - this was by far the best executed episode of the season, maybe of the series. Almost every shot was visually stunning. The pacing was sharp, the editing was sharp, the music was perfect. The emotions…
Some really good ones on this list. Steve McQueen, especially. How can you talk about cool without mentioning Steve McQueen.
Okay, “Hockey Mike” 😉. Sorry about Last Call getting cancelled.
The writers chose Bronn because he’s a fun and well-liked character, it gives him a reason for being in the season, and it gives an opportunity to call back to something to laid down in an earlier season (Tyrion’s assurance that he’d pay double what anyone else paid to betray him). Can you name one other character -…
You are right on this, and I would delete my earlier comment if I could.
Inexplicably popular YouTube personalities have an otherwise unblemished reputation for wholesomeness, so this is truly shocking. For something so vile to emerge from something so morally pure rattles me to the core.
