I haven’t been here much lately. In the past I often had a hard time keeping track of who’s female and who’s male, unless someone pointed it out to me. Same with trolls - I notice if someone calls it to my attention, but otherwise am rather clueless.

p.s Could one of your journalists cover the story which broke in some of the UK newspapers about this politician’s girlfriend (Jo Marney) saying that Meghan Markle is going to taint the Royal bloodline with her “negro” blood.

I’ve never been out of the greys (grays?) — even though I’ve been commenting for years, and certainly get my share of “likes” and responses even from the greys. I’ve never understood how so many of these guys get ungreyed so quickly.

Maybe that’s because people have languished in the grays for YEARS, trying to make insightful, thoughtful comments, and not stir shit, and continue to remain gray, while known trolls are ungrayed on a regular basis. (I’ve had this profile on this site, have never used a burner, and have always been gray. It’s

Thank you for mentioning this yet again. Way back when, Jez had a balance of male and female commenters, but Jez was a different, more lighthearted beast back then.

I take my tiny joy in not starring the commenters who take up the most space.

It was said in anger. There’s nothing feminist about resulting to calling a woman a cunt only when you’re angry.

I’m the first to admit that I have zero (0) specific knowledge about how kinja works, but in general, commenters with a long history+who are often starred/have the top comment or comment thread, do seem to have more ‘weight’ than others. Occasionally you’ll see a thread started by someone with more ‘weight’ that has

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been knocking around a while on here although I’m permagray. I come here less often and usually only comment if something really makes me cranky now. I’m not super happy about the demographic change here. I work with almost all men, it was nice to be able to be here and not be subjected

Veering slightly off topic, the word “cunt” is used a lot more liberally and in many a different context in Australia and the UK in comparison to the US. I use it both as a term of endearment and a pejorative, as do many of, if not all, my feminist friends, but to each their own.

Only the Marzipan posts in Barf Bag are more than OK, IMO.

Or “my [insert reference to women partners and friends] had strong “spidey senses” about [insert creep] but I didn’t listen but now it’s on Jez I’ll take note”

It seems like there are quite a few of us - maybe if there were more women lifted out of the long-term grays, the dudebro contingent would make up a smaller percentage of the regular commentariat, and would be diluted and therefore way less annoying. Maybe there’s hope that the Jez staff could give us better numbers

Thiel is trying to buy gawker now.

Don’t feel bad. There is no playbook on how to handle this, so we’re still figuring it out. But yeah, that’s why we started posting screenshots; we really didn’t know what else to do.

they start threads, post first, and post all over the damn place with either banal shit that’s guaranteed to get stars, or with dismissive bro shit played as if it’s sensitive woke guy shit.

It’s starting to feel disheartening, especially from a feminist website. Really weary of hierarchies these days.

My brother just interned for him. Cardin is doing great, but thanks for your ageist concern. And lol at thinking Cardin hasn’t made a difference.

So you automatically assume that he’s senile because he’s older? Why do I have a feeling that your opinion is going to be quite different 10 years from now?
