No, I made a blanket statement about how the rise of focus on lore and world building has created a certain type of fan.

There are good types of lore and world building and bad types.

Whenever I see the words “lore” or “world building” in a review, a giant red flag goes off in my head that this movie, book, game is going to be filled with extraneous background information that is completely irrelevant to the plot. 

We don’t need it.

I disagree with the premise.
