I think it would be very difficult for you or your partner to get tested. There is a limited supply of tests and they are all controlled through local public health departments.

Except that transplants generally cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Anti-rejection medications are thousands of dollars per month and they often leave you with diabetes, osteoporosis, and hypertension. The first year medical costs for most organ transplants can run you a half mil. Easy.
