In a similar way that IVF was developed. Tests would be done on animals first and once the technology got perfected a number of consenting parents would allow their babies to be born using this method (although they would possibly have to sign release of liability forms as well).

Did you go to school in Iran or some other country?

Most of that could probably be simulated and should not be a major problem.

I thought Aldous Huxley covered that in the first chapter of Brave New World...

Robots.

Should get the abortion rate down further too.

Well I didn't get elected president of Harvard for nothing...

Thank you.

Trust me, most people on io9 don't know the first thing about abstract mathematics either but the coverage of math topics there is infinitely better than here. The problem with increasing the coverage of STEM topics on Jezebel is not a problem of knowledge (which is lacking on all Gawker blogs) — it's a problem of

So the first woman ever winning the Fields Medal is an "obscure" topic? At this point I don't even want to think about how much coverage Jezebel would give Marie Curie if she were alive today and won a Nobel Prize in "something as obscure" as physics. The paradox of Jezebel is that it is ostensibly opposed to gender

Summers point was this:

I think that he overstated the importance of aptitude and understated the importance of inherent social barriers but was still making a valid point overall, at least in regards to the situation in the USA. Extensive research has shown time and time again that the main reason why women are still under-represented in

As long as IQ remains the best predictor of educational and work success I will remain extremely skeptical of that sentiment. Also chimps are a terrible, terrible example.

No — it's because you begin your comment with BITCHES, go on to use the words rad and "buh?" and end it with "derp.". Honestly "buh?" alone would make me sprint.

Sad but telling that this article probably got relatively little traffic on Jezebel today.

You sound like somebody I would avoid from a distance.

I would partially agree with that sentiment although I think that intrinsic interest and intrinsic aptitude are at least equally important.

Good point. On a related note, I have always thought of swear words as being very much reflective of what a society genuinely finds taboo and/or worthy of hate and scorn. If you go look up a list of swear words such as this one you will quickly realize that political correctness has been a dastardly failure.

Since we're doing away with gender on paperwork we might as well do away with race, since race is even more wish-washy. Then when people ask companies how diverse they are, they can simply tell them that such data is not collected. Bingo!
