Look, it’s great that Carmelo wants to make a statement, for the most part it’s a strong one. But there’s a consistent emptiness in statements like these:

I mean if Warriors fans are insufferable, so be it, but it takes a bit of projecting to take what’s probably one of the most diverse crowds on a nightly basis in the league and label them tech bros.

Isn’t this the exact outcome desired by the Players Association though? (and a fairly accurate, if not necessarily moving, critique of how unions operate?)

And yet, you kind of try to get away with the same thing!

And, also, let’s be clear about something: Deadpsin’s stance is not: Politics and sports are inseparable and that’s okay. Deadpsin’s stance is: The right politics belong in sports discourse. There’s an easily-documented history of Deadspin railing against bigoted assholes like Curt Schilling and Donald Trump

To be fair, there’s a certain point to the stick-to-sports-camp that they’re generally too stupid to elucidate.

Yeah, my fiancee just brought me aboard the last season.

He’s also almost never initiating any offense. The same guy who everyone pretty much uniformly agrees is the best dribbler in the NBA hasn’t created jack shit off the dribble for three straight games.

Absolutely. The misogynistic, posturing “nagging” nonsense aside, his whole “well, uh, I don’t know what I love about you yet but you seem pretty cool” point was, despite its messenger, actually like a normal adult approach to a budding relationship.

I’m in the same boat. He’s clearly a hulking mess of insecurity and overcompensation, and just a general asshole, but he HAS, repeatedly, been provoked.

It’s crazy to think he was able to do that at 35, and then if you watch his final fight at 39 it’s like he can barely stand (or speak).

Italy play in a group with Ireland and Sweden.

I particularly like the part where Andrea Pirlo would somehow be on this Italy team if only he were sharpening his skills better.
