This gets my vote for the best sci-fi novel ever! It would be fascinating to try to represent the complexity and nuance of the Tines on screen. The foundation of a great movie is there: interesting characters, well plotted story, high stakes.

I wonder how much of that total was earned by the producers (the share of the pie in question in these negotiations)? There are other players in the overall industry.
“Ducks” was great, so it’s good to see it getting some love.
It would be really interesting to see a summary of the financial drivers behind the AMPTP’s position, maybe using a moderately (but not hugely) successful project as an example.
Something along the lines of “project costs $X upfront, yields $X relatiely immediate revenue from the streamer/distributor, and the producer…
This is clearly not good, and Google should work quickly to fix this issue.
Just curious: would you pay more to fly on a plane with that configuration?
I saw an advanced screening too. I didn’t notice any blurriness, but it did end abruptly, almost as if the final moments of the movie were cut out.
I saw an advanced screening, and I think people should be interested! It’s a fun, well-directed movie. I enjoyed it a lot.
Keep in mind:
-AI is progressing quickly, so today’s output isn’t indicative of next year’s output. I think it’s reasonable for the WGA to build a contract that protects themselves against getting replaced by a better AI in the next few years, so that they avoid similar contractual issues to what happened with the…
Everytime I see the title “Run Rabbit Run,” I think it’s the rumored television adaptation of Updike’s “Rabbit, Run” (which would be a weird thing for io9 to cover!). It’s not that adaptation, of course.
This is the right answer. It paid off hours of content of one of the best character arcs in the franchise (Maul) in a simple, dramatic, and very memorable fashion. I think this moment is the peak of the entire Star Wars franchise, honestly.
Given Tom King’s involvement in the 10-year plan, you’ve got to figure that the New Gods will show up in some form eventually.
Great choice. Gatwa is fantastic on Sex Education - he’s got a very joyful screen presence (except when the story requires otherwise) that I think will be perfect for the Doctor.
I hope Sam Richardson shows up too. He makes everything he’s in better.
Reading “it was so stylish my trousers were tailored by the end” was the highlight of my day. Well done.
I’ve had zero problems with the HBO Max app on Android TV. Discovery works better than apps like Hulu, and playback (including fast forward and rewind) works fine. I guess the problems referenced here are on other platforms?
I haven’t been able to find any news coverage on Olympics ratings in other countries. Does anyone know if the declining ratings are a global phenomenon, or is this situation specific to the US?
Yoda was also very crotchety and sarcastic when we met him in Empire Strikes Back. I thought Luke’s personality in TLJ was very consistent with what we expect from old lonely Jedis.
Would you want a future Trump administration running that vital infrastructure?
Sold out. :(
