You're right, he is awful on defense. The front office is hoping the other big men can supplement it enough that his offensive output makes him worth the minutes.

His offensive output was worth it to them though. Kanter I mean. The hope, locally, is that mitch mcgarrity(?) and ibaka will provide enough defensive presence that it's not as big a weakness when Kanter is in the game. And, they're hoping Steven Adams does something more than hustle and piss opposing players off.
