Great gas mileage compared to what? Just about any mid sized SUV gets better gas mileage, has more cargo space, and is generally a lot cheaper. 95 percent of the car owning population will never need to haul anything or tow anything either, or if so, its so infrequent that you could easily rent a truck to do that job…

The first-gen Chevy Volt had a pedestrian alert horn. Something I think all vehicles should have--a short, non-aggressive horn or beep would be great for getting people off their phones.

It’s not that it costs too much to make cars to meet those standards. It’s that they can’t make huge-ass crossovers/SUVs and trucks that meet those standards. For some ridiculous reason, the public seems to be gobbling up all those giant vehicles rather than buying smaller, more reasonable vehicles for everyday…

This is not some magic land where when you drive your gas guzzler that you purchased in state A with lax emissions standards.. magically gets better when you drive it into CA..
