I think Gerald's plan is more than just him trying to pass the blame onto Ike, as he is trying to make it appear is if skankhunt42 is still out there, and that the Troll Hunter had captured the wrong man. Whether or not he'd still be an asshole if the plan ends up working will be seen in the next two weeks.
