This. 100% this! I owned Grandia II on the Dreamcast and actually preferred it to Skies of Arcadia (I’m a heretic, I know). The battle system is one of my favorite in any RPG, and I just love the color palette. Every location feels bright, distinct, and the polygons, while cruder by today’s standards, are the right Read more

It’s always interesting to me to see certain games or game types get their hooks in people (myself included). I didn’t get into WoW until the Lich King expansion hit, but when I was in it, man was in it. It took me meeting my then girlfriend (now wife), and deciding that I would much rather spend time with her than Read more

Strong choices. I loved the entirety of Odyssey, but you’re right, this track is easily at the top of an amazing soundtrack. Read more

I love it! So bright and peppy. It has the optimism and light hearted ness that I lived in many of the 16-but era RPGs. Read more

Thank you so much for the support and for sharing the article. I haven’t been as active in the TAY community over the last year as I would have liked to have been, but every time I post here, I meet so many friendly and supportive people. Read more

100% agree. That loss of control and the inability to reset your life to a point that seems familiar can make it so difficult to gain the much needed perspective. I don’t think that I am close to getting back to my center, but I am at least closer than I was a year ago.

Thank you for your support and kind words. It was difficult, but cathartic as well. Part of my grieving process definitely involves me compartmentalizing things to a point, and then putting then writing out my thoughts. Some of these things I share and some I write and then delete. Read more

She was down right incredible. I had moved away to college when she started high school, but I was both not surprised to find that she started a non-profit organization the second that she set foot on the high school campus. It’s purpose: to rescue stray animals both from the streets and kill shelters. Read more

Thank you so much for the support, and I completely agree. The last year has definitely had its share of good days and bad days, but through all of it, we have found little pieces and fragments of memories in her in all that we do. Read more

Thank you for your kindness and support. I had been mulling this piece in my head for months, and I knew that I just needed to get it out. It has helped quite a bit to talk about it now that I have put some of the past year into perspective.

Thank you for the support. It has definitely been a challenging year, but family, friends, the kindness of strangers, and games have definitely helped me process the loss and the grief that accompanies it.

I love that you wrote about this because in college my roommate and I had a discussion about this very thing. He and his brother had both an Xbox and a PS2, and he talked to me about how cool the green intro was for the Xbox. I later owned all three systems, and I did really dig the Xbox’s intro the most.
