I agree that he's misplacing blame to the author, but the people who make fun of Nickelback are not nerds, but everyone for ten years. You can be both not a fan, and an observer that it's still faux-sophisticated low-hanging comedic fruit that has been played out for years. It's like the Kardashians as a Jay Leno

It's possible (probable?) that I own an album of theirs from when I was in high school, and definite that I learned some of their songs in that period when I started playing guitar (the early ones which were honestly that bad). The culture that followed of Nickelback as a punchline for bad bands is greater than how

Eh, neither of which have been in the news for a decade or so. Go for Alexisonfire or Mother Mother (with the caveat that both of those bands are actually decent).

Canadian here, and not a Nickelback fan, but I've said before and will say again that as a group of guys who seem by all accounts nice people, they've taken a decade-plus of 'Nickelback is the worst' jokes with a commendable amount of grace and humour. And there are worse bands, really.

Is this satire? What does this have to do with Carrie Fisher?

Just got back from seeing it, and will happily admit that I loved it. I wasn't really excited for it, as even being a lifelong Star Wars fan, I find only the stories related to the original trilogy really catch my interest, and I didn't know this was as closely hewn to it as it ended up being.

I was more confused with why it was so important to communicate to the Rebels that the people were trapped down there, since knowledge of their presence is what brought them there in the first place.

Glad that someone agrees. It's obviously noticeable, but only bothersome if that's the sort of thing that bothers you. Seeing Tarkin in the Death Star > putting up with minor imperfections in well-executed CGI.

I seem to be in the minority of being more impressed with Tarkin's CGI than put off by it. It's certainly noticeable, but I more enjoyed the authenticity of having him as a relevant character again. Sure, it's fan service, but it's also true to the original narrative, and too many people talk about fan service like

Oh, that's not the worst part, and the worst part isn't your fault. I still haven't processed the reality of it, to be honest. It might take me months.

That's basically spot on. This may not be true as I can't source it, but Steve Carell apparently remarked on being a correspondent and leaving the show the difference between interviewing obnoxious people and ridiculing vulnerable people when "we should be helping these people." That doesn't apply necessarily to the

If anything, I just want to see how they pull off Michael Fassbender swan-diving from 50 stories into the soft cushion of a wooden wheelbarrow of hay.

My family for whatever reason owned a copy of At War With the Army on VHS when I was a kid, and I watched it multiple times. That was always my reference point for Jerry Lewis. Not that I idolized him or anything, but still disappointed to find out from this thread that he's basically a piece of shit.

She sounds like a NICE LAY-DEE! But no, in all seriousness, that was a nice story, and thank you for sharing. Also, I'm not the first person to make that joke in a thread that is now three days old. Happy Holidays!

With the thing.

Ahead of time for the inauguration music?

Along with Rainn Wilson's reading of, "Yeah! Who wants to work on a Saturday?"

This seems as good a thread as any, but anyone ever seen The Tournament? Hands down, the single worst movie ever made. It would have been great, had I not watched it with people who thought it was good.

Why would literally anyone incriminate themselves like that?

I don't understand why people compare her to Stewart, Colbert, or John Oliver. She's really not funny or insightful. I know that sounds mean, but I increasingly can't stand seeing her being in the same sentence as those people.
