They fill the same niche as talk show or late-night TV hosts did when I was growing up. People watch them because they know how to put on an engaging show. Anyone can play video games; some people can make it interesting to watch.

“Honey, wanna go viral and make a bunch of money off exposure? Cool! Just sit there while I talk about our friends’ tits.”

That’s because you’re normal. These people are terminally online.

She’s crying because his stupidity threatened their paychecks.

I mean, that’s standard operating procedure for an insincere apology for many decades now. Politicians love doing that one.

They are famous because people enjoy watching them play video games. Not because they play video games.

Forget it, Tony. It’s Whedon.

Almost Human ticked the boxes of a mistreated show   cancelled too early and episodes shown out of order..

I still think the best idea if you’re going to make a Hollywood adaptation of Akira is too adapt it. By which I mean: have it take place in the US, change the character names, have a cast made of Americans (which doesn’t mean all-white, btw) and really adapt the story to a new context. Changes his name from Pugh to Levi to get roles...then watches Florence Pugh get an Academy award nomination and star in Marvel projects.

Supposedly Peyton Reed wanted to do an ‘epic’ Marvel film as a change of pace from the smaller stakes, comedic tone of the first two Ant-Man films, and given it will be the first time we see Kang properly, I think it’s a reasonable assumption it will be a bit more serious.

Almost Human was great, I also liked Terra Nova.  Fox and a real run of high concept one season shows.

I enjoyed her Borg Queen in an uneven second season of Picard. Way too young to lose her.

The Enterprise F.  🍆

My answer for this used to be Firefly, but the more time goes on the more convinced I am that Whedon would have somehow @#$&ed it up or that the current state of his legacy would have tainted a longer run (Charisma Carpenter and Angel, for example).

Now playing

As far as opening award show medley’s go, I’ve always been partial to Jackman’s 2009 number (I still get a kick out of the random expressionistic routine for The Reader...because nobody has seen The Reader).
