More interviews like this please! This went much more in-depth than I would’ve expected for an AVC interview and it was interesting to hear her perspective and how she got into the business. I’ll have to check out that TCM podcast.

On of my all time most treasured moments as a filmgoer, was seeing a screening of Jackie Brown five or six years ago, and Pam M’Fin Grier was in attendance to introduce it.  It’s a crime she wasn’t Oscar nominated for it.

An interview with Pam Grier has simply got to be the high point of any career.  She’s quite the amazing lady!

Bless them. They were going to bless the rains down in Africa.

Pretty sure it’s “take the rains”, though I was never sure how they were going to take them down to Africa in the first place.

Actually I have confidence that she’ll do a good job. She’s smart enough to pick good people to work with, and you can’t deny that she’s creative.  Or you can, but you’d be wrong.

That level of swagger seems like it was probably justified after the first Wonder Woman (“As the only one here to make an entry in this franchise with a favorable Metacritic score, you’ll forgive me if I’m not looking for suggestions from the people who greenlit the Marthaverse.”)

I’d have just sent back the review aggregates for WW84. “Any notes would be appreciated.”

It sounds like she thought she had more clout than she did. I lol’d at the petty passive aggressive move of sending her boss a Wikipedia link for character arcs. That’s some god tier narcissism.

As opposed to people like Martin Scorsese and Stephen Spielberg who work exclusively with amateurs who don’t know what they’re doing?

I liked X but I loved Pearl. How was “Men” with Jessie Buckley not on this list tho?

Yeah, I’m extremely liberal, and the most liberal person in my department at work (I’m in Texas, so it doesn’t take much). The person I’m closest with on staff? The most conservative person in my department. And we’re both well aware of what each other believe, so we just don’t talk about religion or politics with

Yeah, so I guess she was a Trumper as well as a Scientologist and I’m sure if I ever met her we wouldn’t have gotten along. But — holy hell, she was so great on Cheers. Her character was much more nuanced than Shelly Long’s (not either actress’ fault obviously) and Rebecca was so much fun to watch. Cast another

Georgia Republicans need to dispense with this pretext that absolutely anything matters to them beyond party affiliation.

The fact that Walker can display such unfathomable stupidity, but still have a relatively good chance of winning, is absolutely stunning to me. Georgia Republicans need to dispense with this pretext that absolutely anything matters to them beyond party affiliation.

I don’t think (?) that foreign judgments have preclusive effect over here, and this verdict is not going to be thrown out because of a venue issue (I don’t think, although that quote from Depp’s attorney is pretty damning on this issue). But yes, that this case ever even got to a jury is patently absurd.  There is

As far as I can tell, the upshot of the increasingly violent, increasingly eliminationist rhetoric directed at the LGBTQ community, and particularly the trans community, by conservatives, enabled by far too many credulous asshole liberals, amounts to being VERY upset over (1) the minor effort it would take to learn to

I commented a few weeks ago that I think I’ve “aged out” of this site; maybe not, but I’m daaaaamned close.
