Just a note on bidets. In SE Asia, they’re almost always going to be the exact same sprayer attachment that you use on your sink. Granted, this is in a region of the world where many people still flush a toilet with a ladle full of water from a bucket sitting next to a toilet bowl.

In the Philippines, you can just use the English term. The Tagalog word for bless (mano) is used to greet elders (such as “mano na nanay” for greeting a mother), so you’d probably get confused looks if you used it to respond to a sneeze.

I’m about to find out what Cathay Pacific has to offer, but Eva’s ‘oriental’ option is really good.

I’m in grocery management in a very high-end area, and I think it will be a very long time before automation in grocery really takes off. The main reason is that most people simply don’t have enough common sense to shop for their own groceries. Retail workers are basically living versions of LMGTFY. Education level

They need to do something. Amazon is quickly showing that they’re inept when it comes to running brick and mortar. First, they “lowered prices” a whole 1.2%. Then they implemented a JIT inventory system that was a proven failure over a decade ago by the Russian grocery industry. To top it, they’re running employees

Jollibee Flavored Fries in the Philippines. The super cheese is basically like crispy fast food fries covered in cheeto dust.

I don’t use Apple products, and it’s due to my biggest issue. I don’t care to pay a 20%+ markup for outdated hardware just to get a logo. It’s the same reason I’d never want to own a Dodgerati.

The best treatment I have ever found for a severe cold/flu is a neti pot, honey, and asprin (or your OTC pain reliever of choice).

Right now, I’d be gearing up to hedge. A major collapse is looming, rather than a correction. The current belief is within the next two years with a high chance of it being this year.

The eyes are on the bond market, but I’m betting that the black swan will be the rental market. You can’t demand $1500/month for a 1br

This one I know all too well. I’ve managed over a thousand people, a multi-million dollar budget, and several large projects, all at the same time. Of course, I don’t have a degree, so I’m an untrained idiot that couldn’t manage a paper route as far as most HR departments are concerned.

I’m already in the middle of my planning. I’ll be heading to the Philippines for two weeks in March. A week will be spent in El Nido, Palawan. The other week’s worth of time will likely be spent between Manila and somewhere in the bundok of Luzon. Thinking of Baguio, but that’s a haul to make in Philippine traffic.
