I think you’re right about him being passive aggressive, but otherwise he fully supports those women. He just knows to keep the quiet part quiet so it’s easier for him to get by undetected, his bigotry intact and unchallenged. He’s more annoyed that his wife(?) and friends caused a scene and it was caught on film. 

I know they get a bad rap and I love them too! People freaking hunt them with dogs where I live, and I think it’s disgusting.
