I feel like Netflix is creating this self-defeating loop with viewers on their shows. Netflix canceling so many shows is teaching viewers to hold back on watching anything that they aren’t already super psyched to watch just in case it doesn’t get renewed, but that actually contributes to the likelihood that Netflix

To be fair, you can lay that one at the feet of the original film.

I love how bizarre and nightmarish that original film is! It really was a crazy horrorshow for kids. If they make it even more horrific, I’m there for it.

Both Disney adaptations are already sanitized. Jimmy Cricket dies in the original novel. Pinocchio was hanged in the original novel ending. 

Actually, I am wondering if they’re even going to keep that scene. The way things work these days, they might be too afraid to do what was essentially “animated body horror” for its time.
Personally, I’d include it, and I’d double down on those aspects.
