It all depends on your definition of “rural,” I suppose. Where I grew up (population of less than 3,200; in the middle of orchards and rice fields), there were plenty of old pickup trucks and malaise era junkers, but also no shortage of newer lifted pickups and SUVs.

I love that Toyota is big enough that they can partner with other brands to keep fun cars in production.  It’s increasingly hard to make a business case for these ventures, but I’m glad they’re finding a way.

They specialize in appliance cars. I think they would rather just stick a Toyota badge on another make’s car, rather than have to deviate from engineering toasters and blenders.
