Just consider how many guns there are in America. Almost 400 million by a poll on the Washington post. They are about 1 per person in the United States or more. Not everyone has one but many gun owners like myself have a few. Each one has its own purpose. Most of mine are for hunting. Some are for fun at the range.

Gun violence is the term you use. You should use gun accidents per see the article is mentioning if having kids, accidents might occur more if you have a handgun.
