You can power drift or double clutch even with out a hand brake. There are multiple ways to get sideways.

They are using the Initial D move! Using the drainage ditch as inside grip so they can take that corner at ridiculous speeds.

Not really. What you are talking about is grip. Tarmac has more grip and that is much harder. Snow has less and so much easier. 

I only got 150lbs in the back of my truck. Get some snow tires and you’ll be better off having fun awith more grip

I rented and rove a Toyota iA in Seattle and down to Portland. Drove really good. Great around corners and really roomy inside. The looks could be better but it doesn't matter if it put smiles on my face.
