That conspiracy has been going on for some time. A couple of years back I was thinking about replacing the old Passat wagon. Since I wasn’t interested in a mini van (I don’t care if you put bigger wheels and a bigger engine and call it an SUV) I checked out some of the nicer wagons, incl Audi.

Now I am even more confused. You didn’t click on it because of the header but because of your expectation of the blog itself but you do think the headline is click bait?

You read the header and clicked on it. I have a hard time feeling pity for you.

Yeah, right. And then you’d complain about Jalopnik making fun of conservatives and demand a similar hatchet job on Kaine.

No, you have spent just the right amount of time on this!

The second sentence states that Kristen fully supports the direct sales model. Why is everybody attacking an argument she didn’t make?

I didn’t read anything in the post indicating that they should be prevented. It’s just discussing one of the poorer arguments against being prevented. When have we gotten to the point that everything is seen as a debate where you can’t discuss nuance lest your favorite outcome will be besmudged?

(...) documents showing corruption at the highest levels(...)*

I don’t get most of this discussion. First of all, if anything convinces me that the e-mails weren’t tampered with it’s that there wasn’t anything damning in this e-mails. DWS fantasized about going after Bernie for his assumed atheism - that’s weak sauce and if anything prudent when vetting a candidate in an

If you had stopped after ‘standard’ I still would have starred you.

It’s usually dark Passat wagons and mid-range beamers or mercs you have to be careful of. Those are sales people who don’t pay for their gas and have to be places in a hurry. Scan the mirror for those and if you see one, stop what you are doing and go as far to the right as possible.

If you’d care to consult a dictionary you’d find out that that’s the exact opposite of what liberalism means. But even in the unlettered sense you are using the term there is no way that you can claim the first two. Empirically you can’t claim the last one either, but it’s at least in line with your own fallacious

I think the concept of a left breakdown lane is mostly absent on the Autobahn as it is implied that vehicles likely to break down are on the right side anyway. Any breakdown on the left would either be catastrophic failure and the bets are off or of a nature that people can pull to the right.

Good point. Hadn’t considered that. TBH, most of my driving is in situations where the difference is probably negligible and the added practicality (and reduced risk of breaking my rear pane by slamming down the door on something bulky) outweighs the benefits.

It’s actually kind of nice to meet another person who ever bothered to look up the definition of Socialism. Hope you haven’t taken to doing drugs hey. Hell knows I’m close.

OK, I googled it and it seems that the lane width is actually similar (12-ish feet). However when driving on the Autobahn there seems to be a lot more space - possibly because the broken white lines are longer and farther apart and so are the cars.

Never understood the point of a liftback. Admittedly it’s less irrational than a sedan, but if you already accepted that a car can look different from what a 2 year old would draw, why not go hatchback?

Pretty much this. The only thing I’d add is that both trucks and crappy Polos actually need something to overtake, so spotting the risk from a mile off isn’t actually that difficult. You see one slowly closing in on the other, so you slow down. It’s really just about anticipation and defensive driving. Not very

Where did he say that all Americans are bad drivers? Are you denying the fact that there are loads of American drivers who are trash?

Well, you got to pay for it and the US is generally not very good with pooling money to be spent for the common good. Some call it Socialism.
