Sue for what?

Lawsuit for what?  Someone gave her name as a suspect, the cops checked it out, end of story.

You’re expecting progressives to do math and understand economics? That’s not going to happen.

Lynching is already illegal. This is nothing more than attempt by some to pat themselves on the back and pander for votes.

Really “they” can’t have it? They are far and away the majority in the country, if they really wanted it, they would have it. The vast majority are smart enough, and sympathetic enough, to not want it. But concentrate on that .1%.

As a society, it is not our responsibility to educate people about money/credit/savings. That is the responsibility of the individual.

Ok, so how far do we take that? If they asked to be called Dr., or Your Royal Highness, what’s the limit on what people are supposed to acquiesce to?

This is mind boggling. They had the means and ability to get into Sarah Lawrence, but got caught up in a cult?  Didn’t think twice about an adult living in a student dorm?  How oblivious can you be?

You mad?

Why shouldn’t they have to choose?  You’re not entitled to either.

No, she didn’t.  She clearly mingled Knicks and Lakers.

Maybe that’s how it is in your state, but there are different rules. They absolutely can be held without attempting to actually leaving in many jurisdictions.

Ah yes, stolen by Russia.  Because they went in and changed all of those votes in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

So you’re hoping to see fascist actions by the government?

Easy enough to do. They thought they were the same girls who shoplifted previously, and they had received warning about it from another store.  It’s unfortunate, but not illegal.

Don’t jaywalk and you won’t have to worry about it.

Different states, different rules.  Some may give more room for business owners to do what they feel is necessary.

It still applies. If they had reasonable suspicion that it was going to happen. They can be held for a reasonable amount of time and allow the police to investigate. If they didn’t take anything, then they can go on their way.

They can be held if you have reason to believe that they may even attempt to commit a crime, which if they thought these were the same girls, would absolutely be reasonable.  They do not have to wait for the crime, shoplifting, whatever to be completed before acting.

Nope, it’s shopkeeper’s privilege. If you have legitimate reason to believe that they have committed a crime, or are attempting to then you can detain them.  If they thought these were the same girls, then they absolutely have the right to detain until police can arrive.
