Correct. As of 2015, the WRX has the FA20DIT engine with equal length headers which makes a normal 4-cylinder sound, while the 2015 STI keeps the EJ257 and unequal length headers which makes the Subaru rumble.

That would be the kind of rust that added an extra 2+ months to what was supposed to only be a clutch replacement.
