Well, it's an open question if lead-ins can build a hit anymore. Lead-ins (in many cases) do boost ratings for the show following them, but the audience doesn't stay when the show moves. Given how few hits ABC has, you can't blame them for trying though.

I don't know why your list would include Who's Your Daddy, which aired one episode and was then effectively canceled, when you could list something like WB's Fearless, with Rachel Leigh Cook, whose pilot was picked up to series but was canceled before any additional episodes could be produced.
