The big problem is that Emmerich no longer makes big, dumb, fun movies. He just makes big, dumb movies.

I was expecting it to be an uncomfortable sit, but this movie has very little in the way of redeeming qualities. All the reviews warned that it would be completely different in tone from Drive, but the trailers made it look like a gem.
