Respectfully, Red is not McKee's movie. If you did your research you'd know that he left production smack dab in the middle and most of his contributions are lost. In an interview with HorrorHound he specifically said, "it's like someone hands you your abortion in a jar and makes you sit it on a shelf and look at it."
