For the price of a new miata you could have a 1986 911 Carrera
The older I get, the less I understand the point of these (admittedly amazing) cars. No one really races them (too costly, not a good fit for existing series), and they can’t be raced on the street. Driving around at “normal” speeds exposes the flaws these cars have as “normal” cars (watch any number of Top Gear…
Stupid expensive and kinda pointless really
In fairness they tried to arrest Bruce but he was nowhere to be found.
At least in America, you’re held accountable for these things no matter how rich you are...
Last week: “Owning an old German car doesn’t have to cost a fortune!”
This week: “Mercedez suspension valve: $1,250.”
After 8 years, I’d have a hard time not putting that money towards a house instead of an unreliable but pretty Italian.
This is the thing. Even for a fan of autos, if you are even close to 30 if not past it, spending 80% of your annual household income on a nearly 10 year old car, or any f’ing car is phenomenally stupid.
Are you literally suggesting that he kill his children?

It’s mandatory that I respond to that with a “well you could have just strapped your kids to the roof as well, then you would have lots of room!”
I think you confused “Reliable,” with “Durable.”
I’ve driven plenty of older cars and plenty of newer cars. I don’t think I agree with you at all. I dislike driving older cars for what they lack more than what they have. I’m not talking aux inputs, touch screens, powerful 12 speaker stereo’s or digital gauges. I’m talking about 4 wheel anti-lock disc breaks, power…
And a whole lot of people that buy trucks don't use them to their actual capability And neither do families with two kids and 7th row seating, or off-road vehicles ... and ... and ... and ... pretty much any vehicle on the planet. Heck, people drive "economical" cars too quickly and ruin any economy the thing has ...…
