My only complaint about the film was the goofy space-Leia, and that I could have tolerated if they’d had her go all buddha and adopt a lotus position or something, rather than the Captain Universe schtick we got.

His dad sucked too. They should do a sitcom based around a family of intergalactic mercenaries who always get killed on their first mission.
I’m reading an article that’s attacking Wendy’s for ribbing McDonalds, and it’s not April 1st.
“So, I have to ask, if Haddish is doing the Nae Nae for the white gaze, who is your respectability politics boogie for?”
This.
I loved it. Second-favourite SW film.
I work in healthcare IT. Believe me, as far as privacy goes, that’s the least of your worries.
Honestly, I love YA and pre-YA books, and I love fantasy, but this book? I’ve never understood its appeal. What am I missing? It just seemed like a rote assemblage of fantasy cliches with some rather basic theological trappings.
God, I hate that book. Lest we forget, the AVClub gave it an A, on the strength of which, I bought it, took it on holiday, and settled down with a warm smile on my face, expecting to be charmed and enthralled. And it was just horrible. The constant ‘hey, remember this?’ was bad enough, but the smug,…
Yeah, I was fairly late to BuB, and was slightly stunned by it. I’d expected The Philadelphia Story and got Duck Soup.
It’s a what, not a who. It belonged to their cobbler.
Everything in your post, except the first sentence, is redundant.
Hang on - she got two black employees fired for a beverage choice, and that’s a victory?
Also, in the UK here - I understand the significance of watermelon, but what’s the deal with Koolaid?
We’ve got a customer who does that, and the best bit is that I’m fairly sure it’s bullshit.
Yeah, we do this in the UK. Oddly, I think it’s fairly new - the last 10 years maybe?
Not sure about album, but for a song, I’d go with the The Street’s “Dry your eyes”.
For consoles, D1 patches are pretty much inevitable. They have to submit a complete game months before release for compliance, and then they can’t change a thing until after release. It seems a pretty stupid system, but waddaiknow?
God, I love this show. I’m sobbing and grinning like a loon (I cry easily). Slightly stunned by how stunned I was when the barman turned around (was there a deliberate bit of misdirection with the out-of-focus woman at the bar?), but what a delightful moment it was. Thinking about it, “delightful” is the adjective…
Well, this showed up Luke Cage for the retrograde POS it was. Question - was there any indication that Anessa was/is gay (if so, I missed it), or is that just the comics?
RPO is my hate book - let us know what you make of it.
There are two more major ones iirc, plus some nice short stories. IIRC one of the major ones runs parallel with The Furthest Shore, but from the perspective of the women left behind. It’s one of Guin’s most overtly feminist books, and it really grows on you and gets under your skin.
