I can understand it...my old Boxster has the tach in center of course, and speedometer to the immediate side of it..but there is a digital speed inset in the tach, and I use it. With the big analog needle in the Mini I got so I could check the approximate speed quickly with a bit of sideeye. No thinking required.

I lived with a center screen speedo for almost seven years. It was never on my list of (numerous) complaints.
