Back in the day a lot of industrial VW engines had those governors. After the captains of industry realized that the idea of an industrial VW engine was insane, the engines ended up being fodder for rebuilds and were installed into actual vehicles.

If they do find an acceptable fix and dump all these cars on the market, even if they pace it out over a year, there are going to be some exceptional vehicles available for exceptional prices. Bring it on!
