The one year lease is a terrible deal! There are really just two variables in a lease - the interest rate and the residual, AKA the depreciation. The biggest depreciation hit happens in year one, so if you keep bunny-hopping from year to year every friggin' year you are going to be paying big time! Oh, but wait -

Nice article. Looking at the options list for the Boxster: with xenons, Nav, Bose and a bunch of other stuff I'd say MSRP was more like $60K - an even better deal!

Exactly, it is MB, and so is a derivative brand like the Sprinter.

I dunno about the CHP claim... didn't they always have black bodied spots? Seems unlikely that these were upgraded to plated. Anyway, smells fishy.

That is better data than what I had. So forty years old and still enjoyed. Great find.

I blew up the side shot to look at the position of the torsion bar cover plate, and I think its likely a short wheelbase model, so 1968 or earlier. More power to the owner, 45 year old car and still having fun with it and parking it one the street!

Nice piece...cheerful Guards Red on a gloomy Sunday morning. And about the sheepskins - they are there because the seat stitching failed. Ask me how I know. :)

Whats the problem: VW's got a solid product line thats right in the middle of the American market:

$200,500: until you start working your way through the options list...its easy to add $70K in options like the $2550 air vent slats in leather. You wouldn't want to drive a bare bones Panamera Turbo S Executive would you?

Neutral: Moving TMS To 930 Now that we're back in the season where there's actual product news, I'm thinking about moving TMS to 930 so we can lead with product news and then follow with industry news. Does anyone care? Preferences?

Well, the Talon was really a Mitsubishi...but I'll with you on the Neon.

My weekend car is an old VW Syncro Westfalia. My daily driver is an old Porsche Boxster. And I'm old.

At $54,000, the 4C will cost slightly more than a base Porsche Cayman, but as we've said ad nauseum, the Porsche Cayman's base price is basically never the price of a Porsche Cayman.

And the Mazda driver hopefully did not sign up for minimal legal coverage...could be on the hook for a lot of money if the Lambo is determined to have minimal fault.

Low sales because everybody -well every likley buyer- is waiting for the new Cayman, and the new Boxster had already been released so it was clear how much better the new Cayman is going to be...
