Vote: Yellow Legal Pad

@tombuch: Problem fixed by deleting cookies. All is back to normal, and I hope Google doesn't push this change out as the default.

I hate it with a capital HATE. I use a portrait display, and the left side of the screen is really important real estate. Locking it up with a fixed and generally unneeded feature kills me. How the hell do I turn it off, or where can I find a script that will return me to the standard presentation? Anybody know?

Usually the insurance company will pay a percentage of the actual cost 'up to' the reasonable and customary charge in your area. The suggested approach makes sense if the doctor's fee is above reasonable and customary, and you are asking to get the fee within the range your insurance company will pay. However, I think

I'm freaked out by how much web history they have on my searches going back to 2007. I knew it was all stored on their servers, but it's crazy to see it displayed in blue and white. At least there is an option to delete individual searches or results. And I found a less than complete descriptive quote at 2:06 in the

@kettlewhistle: I was equally freaked out, so I logged in. The album is just a company provided sampler to help new users understand the program. It has nothing to do with you...my suggestion is don't sweat that one, and don't bother signing in. #dashboard

XP on my desktop and netbook. It's what I have and everything works, so I see no need to spend money on an upgrade. #operatingsystems

@Ryan May: After the upgrade Permatabs was broken on the desktop machine, but when I upgraded on the netbook it worked. I got it to work again on the desktop by uninstalling and reinstalling. It seems fine now. I guess it was just a temporary annoyance. #firefox

KaosX has the best approach with his "bug out bag." I have carried a "go bag" (same thing, different name) for years, and it really comes in handy.

The update broke my Permatabs add-on. Damn. #firefox

Electricity is important, and batteries aren't always enough. I keep a charged car battery starter on hand and top it off at the beginning of every month. I also have a small power inverter that will take 12v from the car power outlet and turn it into 110 to charge or run important things.

I'll convert to Windows 7 when I get a new machine, which won't be for a long while. XP is just fine on my desktop and netbook. #windows7

@jthatch: Take note that he is a photographer. The main image was shot with a wide angle lens, making the space look much bigger than it really is. The smaller photo makes it look like a conventionally sized dorm room.

Whoa, a check of my DNS cache showed every recent site I had been to. I don't visit sites that I don't want people to know about, but I do care about my privacy, and the existence of that record is a real worry. I tried the Firefox "Clear Recent History" and CCleaner, but the record was still there. The "FlushDNS"

Humm, if the refrigerator is 15 years old he would probably be better off replacing it with an energy efficient model that will save electricity (and money). Several states even have programs to remove the old refrigerator and reduce the price of a replacement, sort of like the cash for clunkers program did with old

I'd like them to improve the "print" feature for contacts in GMail. Right now you can only print name, phone, address, and email. You can't print anything beyond that, which makes it tough to keep a hard copy of the remaining data. It should also format better. Twice a year I like to print my contacts to a pdf and

I just spent a month wandering around the northwestern United States. I always found a free signal at a highway interchange with several hotels. Car repair shops (tire shops etc.) were also likely candidates for free wifi. It's actually getting pretty easy to find a free signal in most areas.

If you are really, really, really down and out, its worth checking with your state government to see if they have a program that will provide health insurance. You need to be very poor to qualify, especially ion this era of budget cuts, but if you do qualify it is well worth it.
