Adblock plus wins my vote easily. The extension I wish I had is PermaTabs. It doesn't work with Firefox 3.0 and later, and I really miss it. I guess I can live without PermaTabs, but the world isn't as nice of a place.

The President should be able to do some basic research on his own using the Internet. Really, just to the point where he can manage a quick search and know when he is being fed a line of crap from advisors. Heck, that could be as simple as reading Wikipedia and knowing how to follow a source link at the bottom of the

Vote: CCleaner.

I'll second "The Grapes of Wrath."

The one tweak that I made right away was for in-line spell check, and it works great.

Worked well. Total time to download and set-up was less than five minutes, and that was at about 3:00 Eastern Time.

That's such a cool map with a terrific "identify the country" interactive feature. Interestingly, as of this moment, there are 329 pledges from Iran, and only 19 from Iraq. Humm.

I too was excited, but then really let down by the limited options. One of the big things missing is a way to easily associate the web address with the selected block so that attribution can be included on the page. I'll join joelena and continue using cut and paste to a word processor when I want to mix and match, or

Nope. I have tried to run it on my home machine and it simply won't work. I use an amazingly awesome 15" rotating monitor that I bought from Best Buy for about $200 in 2002. I'm almost always in portrait mode and the thing ROCKS! Unfortunately, when I'm in portrait mode the screen resolution is just 768x1024, plenty

My desktop is set-up with XP. I am an advanced consumer who started with computers back in about 1980. I have been around computers for a while, and have changed systems plenty of times over the years. I know my way around XP sufficiently to keep it working, and don't want to learn a new OS unless there is some

I use the Pearl Crescent Page Saver extension for Firefox. It's a simple program that easily allows either full page or visible capture. Not many frills, but the capture can be moved into any editing program for adjustment.

I've adjusted my life to avoid the bed unless I'm planning to sleep. That means no reading in bed, no watching TV or working on the computer. My brain has figured out the bed is for one thing only…sleeping. So, when my head hits the pillow I know just what to do.

Simple integration with AOL web mail. I'd love to make the switch, but getting me existing mail, and especially addresses, to move over is the big stumbling block. Thunderbird is by far better than what I'm using now, so make it easy for a non-tech to switch, and I will.

I live in a rural state, but along a pretty heavily traveled road. I feel good about the world, and although I know there are some bad people, I am generally trusting. Thus, my connection is open for anybody to use. I often see the same users logged in (probably my nearby neighbors), and sometimes spot newcomers. I'll

I've been on the AOL system since 1993. I dumped the pay service, but am still using their web based email client, as well as Gmail. I'd love to dump out of AOL completely, but can't figure out a non-tech way of moving my contacts and filed email to Thunderbird or Gmail. Anybody have a simple solution to the AOL

Alright, I'll step in and offer some easy presentation tips from the world of sports instruction. I've been teaching skydiving for 20 years, teaching snowboarding for six, and teaching flyfishing for two.

My number one tip is to communicate. Let the folks in your work life know something is up and that deadlines might be missed. Delegate where you can, and offer specific new deadlines and timelines that you know you can meet. Folks are generally very tolerant as long as they know what's up, and what to expect. That's

I maintain an Emergency Preparedness Guide on my hard drive. It lists all the things I need on hand (power inverter, food, water, etc.), and is updated twice a year when the clocks change. The idea is to have whatever I need to survive in place, or evacuate if necessary. There is a short section on evacuation that

I liked the old style a bit better, but will adjust to the new. The biggest issue for me, as others have pointed out, is the tiny font size. One other thing worth mentioning…I use a portrait display, so comments are now outside my field of view unless I use the bottom scroll. At least all the articles and headlines
