As a European, I will never ever understand this, but this article was as good an attempt as any.

Alasdair Wilkins used it in his Doctor Who reviews a while back: http://www.avclub.com/tvclu…
It's certainly possible that it works better for TV-savvy American audiences than their Swedish counterparts, I honestly have no idea. But from what I saw, it relied way too heavily on jokes about culture clashes and how weird traditions seem to outsiders. Stuff I've heard a million times before. It also lacked the…
I wouldn't call Poehler a star, he was in a show that a lot of people saw (although it lost 50% of its audience after Let's Dance concluded its season) so he's certainly more well known than before, but if you went out and asked a random Sweden on the town who Greg Poehler is, they probably wouldn't know. If you say…
Yeah, you're probably right in that the cringe comedy was intentional, I just got confused trying to make out what was cringe comedy and what was poorly executed jokes.
I did not care for Welcome… when it aired here in Sweden. I found it to be pretty much unintentional cringe comedy riddled with poorly written jokes and not even my love for Amy Poehler and Audrey Plaza and legendary Swedish comedian Claes Månsson (who plays the father of Greg Poehler's girlfriend) could save it for…
Ah, I see! I've heard of the arc but I haven't read it. It's possible that I saw it in the 90's but that was a long time ago and I was just a kid.
If this is the case then they have a point, no one wants to see a bad adaptation of something they love.
I have been rewatching the X-men movies in preparation for Days of Future Past which I intend to see on Tuesday. Watching them in close proximity to each other, and ignoring the Wolverine prequel, made me appreciate them more then I did before I think.
Possibly unpopular opinion: X-men: The Last Stand is not as bad as…
Charta 77 is basically the soundtrack to my secondary school years, and yes, that song is great!
Ah that's too bad. I figured not all of them would be available outside Sweden, but I didn't know to what extent.
*UPDATE*
So this last episode, and the season as a whole, was… okay. That is my opinion of most of post-Kripke Supernatural. It's, more often than not, entertaining, and there has been several stand-outs that rank among the best things the show has done, and also some really awful episodes and arcs. So, after nine seasons I'm…
So pumped for OitNB. Rectify S2 starts in June as well, and since S1 was pretty fantastic it should be worth watching.
I saw that Amy Winehouse concert a couple of weeks ago on Swedish television and it's really, really beautiful. I highly recommend it. If it's the same production as the one I saw it also includes interview segments with Winehouse from the time of the concert as well as interviews from after she died with the people…
I first watched this show as an eleven year old kid in Sweden sitting on my parents' bed staring at a small 14" screen. It was probably my first insight into the reality of WWII and I was both enthralled and horrified. I rewatched it last fall for the first time, and it is still just excellent.
She was pretty good on Stargate: Universe as well.
I like Bioshock a lot actually, and I have heard only great things about Infinite so I'll probably check it out. Thanks for the tips!
Film
Got my blu-ray of Frances Ha which I watched while drinking wine. Still a fantastic movie the third time around.
Also, I watched a movie which I for some reason haven't gotten to until now even though it's from 2008, namely Rachel Getting Married. Hard to watch but really good, Hathaway was great.
I only have a younger sister (and she's not cooler than me!!!!) and any pop culture influences that may have been have mostly flowed from me to her. However, the one instance of her influencing me that I remember the most is a little show called The Vampire Diaries. Now I do like some vampire action, Salem's Lot is a…
Oh yeah, that's right! I didn't watch Eureka frequently enough to make that connection.
