In CSGO (and many other games) you have a velocity. When you let go of a key you quickly decelerate, when you push a key you very quickly accelerate. So you can cone come to a dead stop much quicker by pushing the opposite movement key. Other games have this too. Csgo is the most punishing for movement errors.
