I’m non-white and not ignorant and of all the black people I’ve seen and known in my life, I’ve only known one or two to actual do it. It’s not your fault. You know why you’ve “never seen anyone do this before, IRL”? Because not many people do it—-despite what Kara Brown, one of the biggest Millennial hacks in online

The gays do that too.

Resist “pesticides”? Or do you mean resist “herbicides”? I can see a crop bred to resist an herbicide which would kill it, but why does a crop need to resist pesticides, which kill insects?

There’s nothing wrong with consumers getting more information, which in this case is presented pretty neutrally (that’s why it’s not the same as cigarette labels). You argue there are things you’d rather have labelling for, that other information is more relevant. Fair enough — but lamenting the absence of those

I definitely want full disclosure on all pesticides used. An apple isn’t just an apple. An apple is an apple plus every pesticide sprayed on it. Corporations have decided that consumers are best left in the dark, and too many consumers are way too ok with that.
As far as GMO goes, I’d like to know if the soy used in a

Yes I want to know all of these things but you realize these political fights take a long time and require a lot of compromises? So the perfect becomes the enemy of the barely-good-enough.

GMOs concern me the way importing flora from other countries bothers me... without careful consideration, you could introduce a massively invasive species, or destroy an entire ecosystem.

Actual science is complicated though, and consumers want easy clearcut choices because they’re mindless cattle.

Without GMOs there would still be overuse of pesticides, there would still be big business agriculture, Monsanto would still be raking in the dough, and the cheapest most available foods in the supermarket would still be soy and corn. Let’s focus on that stuff directly.

The uninformed replies here are no surprise. Sad, really. I guess some people don’t want to know what they are about to ingest. That’s all GMO labeling is about FYI.

You’re right that the GMO label isn’t too helpful, but it’s helpful in a broad sense. Let me clarify.

I am unconcerned with the direct effects of GMO foods on human health. However, I have some concerns with the indirect effects of some GMO foods. Plants are often modified to increase resistance to chemical pesticides. While these modifications do not cause any ill health when consumed by humans, the extra pesticides

I’m so, so freaking tired of the ‘safer’ argument. Michael Pollan says it best, so I’ll let him say it. There are a ton of other issues surrounding GMOs, and you know what, labeling is not too much to ask.
