Sure, even still, these could be one-time Federal emergency funds which will not fall to the state but overall yes, this fuck-up will obviously cost the state a ton and very potentially more.

I should also add that a lot of this money will come from Federal & State funds and could actually improve the temporary situation of the city, particularly if they don’t have to repay it. So, there is a chance they “saved” on both fronts. Insurance will also help cover liability costs (lawsuits, etc).
I could do that! I am a municipal bond analyst. But off the cuff, I suspect you’re right. However, Flint was already super fucked even WITH switching water sources.
I was making comparisons to the split in polar political attitudes between the left/right both in Spain and in the US rather than saying the monarchy had anything to do with tea partiers ideologically. It is widely known and understood that the monarchy is supported by right wingers in Spain. I don’t love painting…
Makes sense. It didn’t exist for a little bit there and then, thanks to Franco, reappeared and never retained the same luster it had in the past. It’s so arcane and weird considering the Spain I know (lefty and independentist and very Barcelona) but I always have to remember there’s that other half that still eats the…
Please tell me you have access to the Lithium Sirius/XM station......
Right? What else is she supposed to say? “Oh yeah, I’m an OK candidate. You could choose the others, too. Seriously, they’re great.” Don’t men talk like this? Don’t we like confidence? Kind of confused about all the snark.
AHHHH your band is my dream! I have an eternity band of circular diamonds as my wedding ring, and my engagement ring is a very standard type of engagement ring - circular center stone, raised 4 prong, 5 1 pointers on each side of the band. I like it, I don’t necessarily love it, but truthfully I go in and out on it. I…
Couldn’t agree more!
one of the best things I realized while getting married and thatI pass on to other people as much as I can was that, when it comes to weddings/engagements/relationships, nothing at all is unique. It’s all been done, and that’s OK. Once you realize that, it all gets a lot easier to handle. Obviously there’s wiggle room…
to be fair, they said “enhanced the careers” not kicked off. Oy vey.
On that, we can agree. I (30 yrs old) just got into a vicious argument with my husband’s student, age 19 re: Rush. UNSURPRISINGLY, he is blindingly obsessed and a math student and obviously plays the guitar and is 19 and is a male. So typical.
I wish I could find it, but I read that while yes, divorce is hovering around 50% in the US, it’s actually around 20% for people with college degrees who get married after age 28. It was a study quoted in the New York Times sometime in the last year or two.
Tool, too. That may not be your thing but it pisses off MILLIONS.
Agreed. I like Rubber Soul & the White Album but I like George’s solo stuff above all. But seriously, fuck Wings to hell. Wings is my least favorite band of all time.
Christ, I often cite Wings as my least favorite band of all time. But I’ll fuck with some solo George Harrison.
Stones, Neil Young, Talking Heads, REM, Creedence, Steely Dan, Buffalo Springfield, Yes
Yeah, that was basically my point.
Absolutely. I’ve replied in the same thread to someone else who brought up the same thing, and what I wrote there will definitely apply here.
I can completely get down with that perspective. I think, to me, it read at first as “how dare you insult my consumer sensibilities!” and that’s probably because I’m cynical about people and don’t really believe many people shop small batch out of ethical responsibility, but more because it’s cool and they’re a bit…
