I liked last night’s pilot episode. It felt like a fanfic mash-up of ST:TNG and ST:DS9. Even down to the score and sound effects. I didn’t realize how much I wanted something like that until last night.

You can go way cheaper, it just adds work and time, properly waterproofing gear is time consuming, cheapo camping pads and sleeping bags will be less comfortable. Don’t cheap on your socks and boots though. Waterproof properly. Get the morakniv.

Disagree with you on pads. I roll with the classic blue foam pad that costs max of five bucks, and I have for over five years now. No, it is not very comfortable. But it works, and it is very cheap.

Looking at those prices and I'm thinking to myself, that's cheap end? GOOD GOD! I'm poor.

Amen to that. All the tarp campers out there seem to live somewhere without bugs.
