Empathy is good? Do you know what site you're writing this for?
You would have written this comment on pretty much any article, wouldn’t you?
Christ. Of all the unemployed writers Craggs could have taken off welfare, he picked you.
Feel like Jezebel might have come up in the writers’ room this week, as the kind of site that would tear apart a three-minute song for not representing every single woman on Earth.
Excited to see the first reply to this post that isn’t a thinly veiled excuse for the commenter to talk about themselves. I’ll check back in a couple days, maybe there’ll be one by then.
That’s because Leslie Jones can only play that type of character. She’s an entirely one-note performer.
Isn’t a funny coincidence that Gawker/Deadspin/Jezebel writers all love/hate the exact same people? So weird!
And commenters bitching about Lawrence/Arquette not being ‘inclusive enough’ in their statements starts in 3...2...1...
In this instance, Deadspin is ripping the networks who show the violence. That's what I'm referring to.
Serious question: you guys rip on CBS/FOX/NBC for showing violent football plays, calling them “brain damage apologists,” etc. then put up video of boxing and MMA showing people absorbing hits to the head. What's the difference?
“The state of having inconsistent thoughts.”
None of those things relate to feminism, so in this case, no. Again, you like Beyonce, but not Taylor Swift, and that’s why you (and Jezebel at large) are criticizing only one of them. Might as well own it.
“Some of them just don’t comment on stuff like this.” Couldn’t agree more; why are people then taking Taylor Swift to task and letting it slide with other, equally famous artists who have also recently made a point of describing themselves as feminists?
Similar to the cognitive dissonance of people on Jezebel asking why Taylor Swift hasn’t commented while giving equally famous, self-proclaimed “feminist” artists a free pass.
Starred this because I think it’s funny. Are we really taking people to task now for some “mildly problematic” thing they quoted someone else saying three years ago?
Look, no one’s obligated to speak out (although you don’t need Twitter to say something, believe it or not). It just seems like Swift’s ‘feminist credentials’ are at least as solid as Beyonce’s at this point, yet no one would even dare question why the latter hasn’t said anything (because she’s THE QUEEN WHO SLAYS,…
Why does Taylor Swift get stoned to death on here for not saying anything when Beyonce gets a free pass?
They can at least spell.
She writes on a Gawker Media thread.
