For me the problem was not focusing on the main character Elsa and instead writing tangential subplots that didn't add to the overall story i.e. Chester and Marge, the father who disfigures his daughters face etc. Just think how powerful the last three episodes could have been if

Why can't they hire Faye Dunaway AND focus on the writing? Also, I didn't suggest her casting to solve ANY issues. I love AHS - even with writing flaws it is still the most original show on TV as well as one of the more entertaining ones.

I'm very surprised that you don't mention or review the performance of Gloria Grahame in this film - it;s one of her best performances. As for Bogart, you simply mention what Hanson said about him. I expect more from the A.V. Club.
