I know the recommendations are a lot of times jokes, but please dear God stop recommending Kias.

Why are EV vehicles such an affront to y’all’s souls?

You underestimate just how bad this problem is. These things eat oil. Once I got an oil change and just over four days later when checking the engine, I pulled out a damn near clean dipstick.

Hannah Ritchie is an excellent resource for the question you are asking.

Get a minivan. There are plenty with sub-8 sec 0-60 times and a few with sub-7 sec 0-60 times. At school you can just open the door remmotly and the kid can hop in and out. Also their friends and all kinds of stuff are easy to haul around.

You’re right,... they definitely shouldn’t make this the ONLY action that they take against climate change,...

That’s what is happening...so please don’t create the illusion that we are transitioning to EVs overnight because of Biden’s EV plan. Even if that plan is 100% on-track the total car park of nearly 300M vehicles in North America today won’t be majority EV until after mid-century.

Nothing like your designer cribbing from what he did before

I love that attitude but I don’t love the “I’m lying about the air conditioning system just needing to be recharged because I’m an asshole” attitude.

I am never going to think my 5-speed is going to save me in a jacking - not after hearing about the man who was SHOT when the thieves realized they couldn’t drive his car.

The problem isn’t the speed limits. If that were the main culprit, Germany would have a huge problem. It doesn’t, because it takes driver training, car maintenance, and close to zero tolerance for impaired driving seriously.

The GOP is a death cult. This is not news.

Part of the problem is that American culture is that its okay to be stupid, arrogant and self entitled, and just “fuck everyone else” and the only way to curb that is to parent them. Which is why sadly in some cases nanny states are needed because these people were not PROPERLY taught by their parents how to behave in

If price was all that mattered, then the Bolt would be the best selling EV out there by a long margin.

Erm, more than one design flaw.. the early examples ate head gaskets like nobody’s business. Even the much-later LD9 Quad4 had a whole host of dumb design decisions that made it a finicky powerplant.

Eh, it still sells well enough. I’d imagine most families don’t need to remove the second rows all that often. And IIRC, the second row does a decent job of folding flat against the front seats.

Weird.  We have a 2016 QX80 and stream music off our phones all the time.  Base model, too.

Chevy SS didn’t come out until 2013, 4 model years after the G8 was discontinued. And it had a MSRP starting at around $45k, so even more than the GXP manual and almost but not quite double the price of the GT automatic.

But that wasn’t so much a flaw with the car, as it was a flaw with the executives leading the company.
