“That’s my wife’s car”

Star for not being a shitty old Suzuki. I did not think these would be under $15k but looks like they are in some cases.

I was all ready to call shenanigans, and then I did an autotrader search. Holy crap, they’re really that cheap.

Would you trust a Golf R you found for less than $15k?

Did you..read the story? Was more than that.

Exactly. The 5.2L and 5.9L LA V8 engines were heavier, and wouldn’t have delivered any better of an experience, and so would have added weight for no good reason. That’s if they could be made to practically fit in the first place without (a) requiring a lot of customized parts, (b) impeding upon the crush space or the

Seems a lot of people like to compare life 20-30 years ago to today’s standards. Cars, jobs, politics, and other relationships. Sometimes this doesn’t make sense.  Still, would be nice if someone dropped a modern hemi v8 in a Prowler.

At this point it’s important to underline how badly the American auto industry was doing in that era. Chrysler, specifically, was dishing out very lame and not particularly good cars. Things like the Neon, the Intreprid, the 300M, the Sebring or the Caravan; all vehicles (except for perhaps the Caravan) that weren’t

I remember the 300M in particular was well reviewed by the automotive press. Not sure where this author got the idea it was some non-competitive POS.

Sounds like a kids dream AND a nightmarish business model

As the LH cars (like the Eagle Vision) were longitude-FWD, it shouldn’t have been too hard to modify the 42LE for RWD duty. All they had to do—in principle—was come up with a separate bell-housing that removed the integrated differential and front half-shaft connections, as well as the transfer chain that routed power

Code is cheap, but testing it, documenting it and maintaining it is expensive.

Yea here in MA it’s 35% but any shop will do it darker as long as you sign a waiver saying they’re not responsible if you get a ticket

A passenger side mirror was often an option too. I think when people talk about how cheap some of these trucks were they have no idea how decontented they were. My buddy bought a brand new S10 in 1992, no rear bumper, no radio, one outside mirror. And after a few months, no paint on the horizontal surfaces.

I genuinely do not understand why people even want to go on a cruise in the first place.  The whole thing baffles me.  I really need to go on one so I could understand why people love it so much.

It is due to past regulations. Trucks were not considered passenger vehicles.

Yeah, everyone playing up FCA’s bad reliability really needs to give Ford a year or two before making definitive claims.

Cool, but what advantages does this Wrangler have over, say, a train? Which I could also afford.

My experience with Ford would suggest they are not much better than FCA

Hyundai never looked good; what else is new?
