I’m in the same locale as the MR2 above. I’ve expanded my search outside of Miata for other things that may be fun in the sub $5k price range. It hasn’t been a fruitful endeavor.

$4k whats? Around here $4k might buy you a clapped out NA with the eBay Specialty Tuners package. NBs are $6k-$10k all day

As someone looking for Miatas, good luck finding one in this condition for the same price. The Miata crowd has become a lot of “I know what I got”

Actually work on them. Thousands isn’t too far off base. Just wait until the first air/oil separator failure, or god forbid you buy the dog shit cable throttle body car and your DME shorts out.

And costs several thousand more to maintain and keep in better riding shape. Not to mention at that price point, the 996 is likely on original suspension which is awful.

ITT: people who have either never driven a 370Z, or have zero clue how to drive outside of slamming an accelerator on a high hp car.

The Z rides on a midsize sedans platform shrunk to “small” coupe duty.

At $15k I wouldn’t touch a used 987.1 boxster because it’s probably another $8k from being a decent runner.

Because who can forget the smashing sales success the Toyobaru twins are. That’s the market Nissan needs to be chasing. They can sell that and rotary dial phones.

Dodge subsided heavily on selling trucks and jeeps. Everything we hate about Nissan, is praised about Dodge with the charger/challenger. Both of which have heavy fleet sales, and boomers buying them. What Nissans do boomers wax poetic about? There’s the Fairlady and that’s about it.

Same minus the touch screen and android auto. Mazdas got a great setup. And they finally made the infotainment not awful in the new 3 and cx30. But the physical controller is so much better.

Lincoln did that back in 2013 or so. And everyone shit on them for it. Suddenly people were considered about how they’d execute a successful j-turn at speed if the gear selector was buttons.

Jalopnik: Now available in Braille.

The Boxster saved Porsche. The Cayenne was the cash infused cherry on top of their money Sundae.

Also apparently macular degeneration. The Sportage looks like a Macan in the way any crossover does.

I don’t know how it won everything. Both are downright hideous looking. And while the interiors are nice for their class, the ones I drove were absolute trash. I’m sure it’s nice for the typical Kia and Hyundai crowd, but there’s no way I’d buy one one after driving it. I’d save the money and move a size class down to

No BMW owner would be, because the factory is in South Carolina. Per usual basic googling fails the top notch research teams at Jalopnik.

The issue isn’t about duck tails. The issue is about whale tails. Different spoiler design.

Only one of those is a whale tail though. The other two are tea trays and the 993 is melanoma.

Lol if it’s such a bad method why is it working for Toyota/Honda/Subaru? The GTR and Z didn’t have people rushing in to buy Altimas and Rogues. The dusty old thinking of “wins on Sunday sells on Monday” died out in the 80s.
