Whats even more wrong with JJ abrams statement is that Star Wars EU had one of the most organized and complex groupings of canons and alternate continuities of any media. It was pretty damn obvious what could be considered movie canon or whatever else because they were all listed and subdivided in a logical way…

For all that talk of completely abandoning EU source material, JJ has certainly ripped it off more than a handful of times in TFA.
