I had a Maxima rental car and the VQ motor and CVT provided plenty of performance and better than 30mpg. I actually LIKED the CVT in that particular application.
My mom’s 95 did not have a split rear bench. So if you needed to fold the back seat down for anything it became a 2 seater. It also gets crap fuel mileage. He needs a van with decent mpg. Honda Oddessy, Toyota Sienna, or Nissan Quest.
