I have a similar-ish situation (not a chronic disease) that I’ve been dealing with for about 6 years now. I find it maddening when someone who has just heard about it starts throwing solutions that I should try at me. I have literally been struggling with / living with this for years and they think that they can solve

This is something my friends and I have been talking about a lot. What it means to be an adult when we, and large parts of our generation, aren’t going to have the big milestones that our parents did: marriage, kids, morgage. Even for those of us even for those of us who don’t want those things, it’s a little bit

I have always hated that! As if they’re the first one to have ever mentioned online dating to you.

Exactly this! I recently got into a relationship, after a long time being single and the relief that my friends and family felt was really annoying. Like there was something fundamentally wrong with how I had been living before, which wasn’t how I felt about it at all.

But I would argue that you have found exactly the heart of the pro-choice movement! The idea that you aupport other people’s ability to make that choice, regardless of how you personally feel about it.

Ah, my apologies, it seems we are on the same page.

Becuase fully grown men should know better? There’s not always a lot you can do about babies. They’re doing their best at just being.

I think that where you run into problems is when the two options conflict with each other. My argument is, essentially, that you need to have a clear understanding of what your ultimate goal is for any project. It is only then that you can decide what to prioritise when two different priorities contradict each other.

I’m not sure. My cat doesn’t care about it at all. I think I read somewhere that it doesn’t affect all cats, so it could be a coincidence. On the other hand, I am more than willing to believe that we have been systematically breeding stronger catnip.

It’s such a fundamental disagreement over what our prison system is for, and what results we want out of it. People tend to say that they want prisons to rehabilitate people and reduce recidivism, but our actions and our policies show that what we really want as a society is to punish people.

Honestly, I think one of the most dangerous myths that many of us believe about neo-nazis/fascists/white supremacists/racists is that they are comprised solely of a sort of uneducated, disenfranchised, lumpenproletariat far removed from power and influence, be it cultural, political or otherwise.

Correct. Shortening in pie crust is an abomination.

I appreciate you so much right now. I keep coming here to dispel myths about Canada and you are here first, doing the good work. Cheers!

My family ended up going with GG (pronounced GiGi) for Great Grandma when that turned out to be too much of a mouthful. Just Grandma like usual for everyone else though...

Well, the Americans sort of inherited the Alaskan Boundary Dispute from the Russians when you bought Alaska. It was already ongoing since 1821.

I’ve heard the same for years as well.

Oh gosh, and if you were far away and knew it was going on AT THAT MOMENT but you couldn’t stop it. *shudder*

Me too, but I’m bi, so I usually just say that!

In GLAAD’s case I assume that they are using it because it makes it easy to distinguish between male and female roles.

Exactly this!! NBC was at its best (and doing its best) when it was the most diverse network. Its unbelievable to me (although it shouldn’t be) how difficult this is for networks to understand.
