I don’t know- I don’t think (most) people are claiming that they need to like kids 100% of the time.

Darn! I love it when etiquette has hard and fast rules, so I know that I’m doing at least what I am supposed to. Oh well, back to flailing awkwardly.

OK- can I as you a housekeeping question? I don’t got to hotels much, but when I do I never know how much to leave the housekeeper for a tip. Am I supposed to calculate it on the cost of the room? Is there an elaborate formula based on how much mess I have made? Do I just wing it?

He’s so friendly on TV that I have never been able to shake the suspicion that he is actually a psychopath.

I was scrolling though looking for this- PC White Cheddar is the best!

This is such a fascinating intersection of personal belief and family loyalty- it always reminds me of all those labour politicians who talk about the problems with public schools but who also either send their children to public school OR move to incredibly expensive postcodes to ensure their children’s education.

But I think the general principle on abortion here is that bodily autonomy pretty much trumps all other rights. I mean, even dead people have autonomy over their organs when it comes to donation- and they are dead.*

Good advice, thanks!

Yeah- even the racerbacks I've tried haven't worked. I always feel ridiculous telling people I'm having trouble running because of a shoulder injury!

I don't have a nomination but I do have a question-

It sounds like you have it all figured out, but I just wanted to say that Penhaligon's makes some of my favourite kind of unisex scents- peppery, leathery, you name it.

Yeah, I know I said it somewhere down thread but there are always people who seem to forget that admin. assistants have actual, defined jobs to do beyond “whatever anyone else in the office asks them to do.”

(Un)fair enough if it’s official and part of their job descriptions. I just feel a bit protective of the role I guess- it’s a starting job for a lot of young women (my first was as an exec. assistant) and I see a lot of attitude from people who seem to think that they are general P.A.s for anyone in the department.

It varries from company to company. I’m not really arguing on event set up or the like, but I also see (at my place) a lot of work like baking cookies, or remembering to bring everyone birthday cards or asking people to chip in for babies etc. being expected of them, even when it isn’t an official company work.

Love this comment but just wanted to add (in defense of the amazing admin. assistants in our department) that a lot of those things aren’t admin. assistant jobs either.

I’m sitting on this cross departmental working group at the moment, and I’m not only the only woman, but also the youngest (although not the most junior ranking). My boss just sent the director who is chairing it an email saying that I’m there as a full member of the group and not to take notes or organize meeting

Shoppers, eh?

From what I understand it's incredibly hard as an adult to be healthy on a vegan diet. You need to be really careful about getting all your necessary amino acids etc. because the only complete proteins available to us are meats. There is also the issue of the bio-availability of nutrients in food e.g. just because

Sure, it might stop your baby from developing autism, but only because your baby will be dead. (Better dead than neuroatypical, though, right?) (Wasn't that the anti-communist slogan back in the 50s?)
