Of all of the bizarre political twists and turns this country has taken, the strangest one is this: the fetishizing, and elevating, of symbolic gestures, while actual words and actions have become almost irrelevant.

I’m sure the other side line, the end lines, the goal lines, and the yard lines are all straight and white but if one line is different it’s an attack on straight lines everywhere. Next you’ll be saying, “Why isn’t there a straight white line history month?”
