>Russia isn’t an enemy of the American people.
In my 12 years of Naval service, I had 6 meals this way....
Other than not being at home, and being 6-10 hours ahead of East Coast time (which totally throws off the eating during football dynamic), it was all pretty good.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my brothers and sisters in the service. Love you all.
My son and his family are stationed in South Korea. Thank YOU for reminding us to be thankful for being HERE, thankful they are serving their country, and that they are being remembered today!
There was an anecdote from the Battle of the Bulge, the Germans had overrun a convoy carrying mail to the US forces and they found Christmas presents including booze, candy and cakes from the US. A German general announced to his command staff that the war was lost.
The Americans had so much excess logistics that they…
My Wife and I would have my “Joes” over during the holidays when they weren’t able to make it home while stationed overseas. Years later they are still appreciative over it whenever I run into them. It doesn’t seem like much, but it means a lot to them. Thank you for doing what you do. Happy Thanksgiving.
My husband is an active duty sailor. We are having a few of his shipmates over tonight for thanksgiving dinner. It might not be much but it definitely beats them having to eat in the mess hall for dinner.
Thats not really a flag in that pic, just a print containing elements of the US flag. I’ve seen similar table covers during our indepenance day celebrations as well. The US flag is very specific as to colors and size and shape of the elements. Anything else isn’t considered a flag.
Never been in the military, but I’ve had the opportunity to have exactly this meal served to the deployed armed forces (keeping in mind also means domestically) on Thanksgiving. Trust me, it’s still a pretty poor compromise for having to be deployed on a family-centric holiday regardless the logistics involved. Do…
My son is active duty Coast Guard and, after 4 years of him being stationed on the opposite coast he is home for Thanksgiving this year. A Coastie friend of his is unable to be with his family this holiday so our son asked if he could bring him along. We said “of course” and they are currently playing video games in…
To all the repliers who served; thank you for you service and for protecting my way of life as well as liberty. To ALL repliers, Happy Thanksgiving.
They say wars are won by logistics. That may very well be true, but these logistics are about remembering those who make sacrifices so that we here at home can enjoy a peaceful meal with our loved ones
I would like to share my Thanksgiving story.
I remember my first Thanksgiving in the military, I was at Fairchild AFB and returned from combat survival/escape and evasion training on the day. Two weeks out in the woods with one MRE and nothing else but what we could forage, holy cow the chow hall seemed like heaven! The wing commander himself was slicing and…
It’s pretty crazy the lengths they go to trying to ensure we all have the opportunity for a good/special meal. I’ve been fortunate enough to be home for all but one Thanksgiving in my nine years of service. The one time I wasn’t, I was at Camp Lemonnier and we had a pretty good meal and I was very thankful for that. I…
“Uh, nope. No roadrunner in sight, sir.”
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Tyler...and to all who post here.
Holidays overseas suck, hot sauce makes them slightly more tolerable.
Thank you, U.S. Armed Forces, on this Thanksgiving Day!
